Island Office Products

RZG users are elegible to use the Island Office products, as being setup by the installation of the group AsdexUpgrade of the IPP. We therefore stick strictly to their nomenclature of using those products.

Island Office products are provided by the Island Software Corporation.

The German distributor of Island Office products is

IslandDraw is licensed on the basis of floating licenses, that is to say, a user who wishes to use island products, obtains a temporary license from a pool of, at present, 32 licenses.

Some tricks and pitfalls have been gathered.

The latest version of Island Office products (6.0) is available from afs for

 

workstations  Sun-Sparc       running Solaris 5.8 or higher
workstations  IBM-RS600       running AIX 5.1 or higher

In all systems of RZG the program IslandDraw version 6.0 is directly available by just using the command IslandDraw.6, IslandPaint.6 or similar command, if installed. The command is referenced from the filesystem afs in /afs/ipp/@sys/bin.

Other systems should have incorporated afs to their filesystems and the directory /afs/ipp-garching.mpg.de/@sys/bin be part of the users PATH environment variable.
