IDL

The Interactive Data Language is a complete package for the interactive analysis and visualization of scientific and engeneering data, developed by ITT, Visual Information Solutions.

The following table shows the versions of IDL available on afs for all supported plattforms at RZG:

Note for AIX and IRIX: Version 6.4 is the latest version available for that operating system.

Note for windows users: IDL 7.1 can be installed from Server \\sv3hgw\public\idl\idl71\windows by system administrator. IDL 8.0 and higher can be installed from X:\common\soft\idl.<$version>\dvd\windows. After installing, copy the file X:\common\LicMgmt\flexlm\licenses\lserv1.28518.lic to C:\Program Files\ITT\License\lserv1.28518.lic.

IDL is available from the afs and can be started by the command idl -v <version>.  The command module load idl is necessary on newer systems (SLES 11, x86_64)   and for idl versions higher than 7.1 for all supported architectures (excluded windows) to load the IDL module first
