Graphics packages at RZG

All graphic packages will be stored within the Andrew File System (afs). Hereby no special installation of a graphic package on a particular system is needed, once afs has been installed on this system.

Graphic programs will be held in

• /afs/ipp/@sys/bin
  

Graphic libraries will be held in

• /afs/ipp/@sys/lib
  

Graphic man-pages will be held in

• /afs/ipp/common/man
  

If programs or libraries do not seem to be available, the setup of the users environment or the system has to be changed. Programs may become available by either extending the PATH environment variable with the previously named directory or suitable links have to be generated by the system supervisor. Libraries may become available by setting the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable or using the -L option for the loader or special system links.

@sys is a special directory name which is suitably resolved by the system, if the afs-filesystem is being serviced by an afs-client. If, however, the afs-filesystem is only nfs-mounted, the verb @sys has to be replaced by the suitable synonym:
