01.05.2012: The VC infrastructure for the GV based on Cisco components and provided by RZG runs in production state.

01.12.2010: Ulrich Schwenn moved from RZG to the Generalverwaltung of the MPG and became Leader of the MPG Project Videoconferencing.

20.10.2007: On November 8 there has been held a  Webcast panel about climate changes, CO2 reduction and what videoconferencing could do in this context.

22.06.2007: A NDT (NetworkDiagnosticTool) installation is now also available at the RZ in Garching. The NDT was developed to test the reliablity and operational status of your desktop computer and network connection. It does this by sending data between your computer and this remote NDT server. 04.01.2007: First of all: Happy New Year! The peaceful days last week I used to create some statistic stuff related to our gatekeeper. You can find the pages under "RESSOURCES"-"Statistics". It shall give an impression of the use of the gatekeeper and videoconferencing infrastructure.

28.11.2006: Today we switched from the old Gatekeeper DB to a new DB which is shared between the booking system and the gatekeeper (phonebook). Administration of Gatekeeperaccounts is now possible via the phonebook application as well as via the booking system. Additionally the phonebook application was updated, so the status (online, in a call) of an endpoint is displayed.

10.11.2006: We did register a couple of multipoint conference IDs on the DFNVC MCUs for DEISA, EFDA, ITER, JET & DFRC. The scheduling is done by the groups.

08.11.2006: Congratulation to Joerg Matthes, he has finished his Diploma Thesis and passed his final examina in September and - sorry - has left us 2 weeks ago. We wish him all the best in his future.

The booking system is in Franks hands now. It has been adopted by Greifswald this week. Now it is possible to book not only videoconferencing rooms: but all meeting rooms entered in the data base.

31.07.2006: We are happy to welcome Frank Hinterland in the VC group. Frank will start with harmonizing the phonebook, the gatekeeper and the booking system. All this will be accessible via a new Webportal. We wish him a pleasant and successful time at RZG!

30.06.2006: NEW BOOKING SYSTEM operational from July 5, 2006: Please contact a colleague listed here. The old Yahoo Calendars will not be accessible from this website, older entries will be transferred as far as possible, nevertheless check the new calendars.

02.06.2006: NEW BOOKING SYSTEM in test: Several colleagues have been introduced to the new booking system, developed and installed by Jörg Matthes as the center part of his diploma thesis. The VC Web pages will be updated til the end of June. In the meantime contact the person from or closest to your department on this link. She/he will help you with the booking. DO NOT USE the old Yahoo calendars anymore!
