Unix basics

Not long ago you had to learn a different operating system for every type of computer you used. Today you can get along with a single system: UNIX.
Although all vendors name their systems differently (like AIX, Ultrix, OSF1, UNICOS, HPUX, SunOS, Solaris, Linux...).
These are just dialects of Unix; as a newcomer you won't experience many differences.
With the rise of linux, you can find a lot of information on the web.
