Linux Compute Clusters
The RZG operates large Linux compute clusters, for all its users in general and
many Max Planck Institutes including :
| Plasmaphysics | Fritz Haber Institute |
| Astrophysics | Extraterrestrial Physics |
| Quantum Optics | Physics |
| Polymer Research | Biochemistry/MIGenAS |
| Astronomy | Chemical Physics of Solids |
| Ornithology |
Scientists from these institutes run specialised scientific applications exploiting the capacity of the clusters systems to their limits.
The compute systems are based on Intel Xeon processors and AMD Opteron processors. Intel Xeon processors are mostly operated in Blade Center technology.
Most systems are equipped with Infiniband interconnect.
