The RZG gateway machine

The RZG gateway machine gate.rzg.mpg.de provides access to the RZG computing facilities for general users. The system is based on the Power6 hardware architecture. It has 8 CPUs and 32 GB of main memory. The operation system is AIX5.3.

A local file system is available as /data (equivalent to the file sytem /batch on the old "sp" machine).
If you need a directory there please contact the helpdesk.

The IBM LoadLeveler batch system is no longer supported on gate.rzg.mpg.de.
Batch systems are available on the Linux clusters and on the HPC clusters (Power5/Power6/Blue Gene). If necessary, you have to apply for an account on these systems via the RZG helpdesk.

The old "sp" machine was taken out of operation on Feb. 11, 2009.
