About the system
The IBM Power6 System at RZG
In May 2008, the new IBM Power6 supercomputer was installed at the RZG. It replaced the Power4 Regatta system.
The Power6 compute cluster consists of 207 nodes, each with 32 processors. Thus, in total there are 6624 processors with a total main memory of about 18 TB. The peak performance of the system is 120 TFlop/s.
Additionally, there are 6 I/O nodes to serve the 400 TB of disk storage and 1 node for the Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM).
The Power6 nodes are connected by a fast 8-link InfiniBand network.
