File systems on the IBM Blue Gene/P

File system setup :
GPFS
There are 2 global file systems of type GPFS that are provided by the Power6 file server and that are shared by all Blue Gene/P nodes, by the login node "genius.rzg.mpg.de" as well as by the Power6 cluster:

/u where your home directory is
(60 TB, RAID 5, no system backups)

/ptmp for batch output
 (325 TB, RAID 5, no system backups)

 

/tmp
The file system /tmp on the login node CAN'T be used on the Blue Gene/P nodes. There is no local /tmp file system available on the Blue Gene/P compute nodes.

 

Please note: AFS is ONLY available on the login node "genius.rzg.mpg.de", NOT on the Blue Gene/P compute nodes.
