Software configuration of the IBM Blue Gene/P

The Blue Gene/P compute nodes run a lightweight Linux kernel to execute user-mode applications only. Typically all four cores of a compute node will be used either in "Dual Node Mode" (DUAL), "Virtual Node Mode" (VN) or "Symmetric Multiprocessor Mode" (SMP). I/O is done by the I/O nodes.

Users will login to the external frontend node "genius.rzg.mpg.de" that is running Suse Linux SLES10.

Software available on the login node genius.rzg.mpg.de :

IBM compilers:
  • Cross compilers for parallel executables on the Blue Gene compute nodes:
    Fortran: bgxlf90_r, mpixlf90_r (see "man bgxlf" for detailed information)
    C:         bgxlc_r, mpixlc_r (see "man bgxlc" for detailed information)
    C++:    bgxlc++_r, mpixlcxx_r (see "man bgxlc++" for detailed information)
